The Armani companies advertised ethical and social responsibility commitments, among other places in their code of ethics and on their website, while production of certain items was outsourced directly or indirectly to workshops, some operating illegally, where workers were employed at inadequate wages, beyond statutory working-time limits and with deficient health and safety conditions. The AGCM found the claims misleading and fined Giorgio Armani S.p.A. and G.A. Operations S.p.A. 3,500,000 EUR jointly and severally.
Ethical and sustainability promises to customers are advertising claims and must be backed by a supply chain that is actually monitored.

- The basic amount of 5,000,000 EUR was reduced to 3,500,000 EUR because, according to records of the Tribunale di Milano (Milan court), G.A. Operations had implemented the requirements of the court-appointed administrator and brought the procedure to an early close on 18 February 2025.
