27 Jun 2025 A.P. Møller-Mærsk A/SA.P. Møller-Mærsk: DKK 10m for failing to notify an acquisition (gun-jumping) €1.34m
The Sø- og Handelsretten (Danish Maritime and Commercial High Court) ordered A.P. Møller-Mærsk A/S to pay a civil fine of 10,000,000 DKK because the acquisition of Pilot Air Freight Holdings by its US subsidiary Damco USA in May 2022 had neither been notified in Denmark nor cleared before completion. The authority had sought at least 20 million DKK; the court found the failure grossly negligent but reduced the fine because of the self-report, full cooperation and an existing compliance programme.
Acquisitions by foreign subsidiaries also need a turnover-threshold screening for every jurisdiction before completion.
