12 May 2025 Fostermation Inc.Fostermation: USD 64,892 for child labour and machine guarding failures €58,430
After a 16-year-old lost a thumb tip on a forming machine at metal components maker Fostermation in Meadville (Pennsylvania) in May 2024, the Wage and Hour Division and OSHA found breaches of child labour regulations and six serious and one other health and safety violation, including missing machine guards and deficient lockout/tagout procedures. The company paid 50,192 USD in civil money penalties for the child labour violations and 14,700 USD under a settlement with OSHA, a total of 64,892 USD. The authority allegedly made the findings set out here; this account is not based on a final judgment.
Minors must not operate hazardous forming machines – work schedules for young workers need a separate check against prohibited tasks.
