26 Jan 2026 DME Construction Associates Inc.DME Construction Associates: USD 600,000 OSHA settlement after fatal roof fall €506,928
Long Island roofing contractor DME Construction Associates entered into a settlement with the US Department of Labor affirming all citations issued after an employee fell to his death through an unprotected skylight in August 2021, including nine wilful violations, eight of them cited per instance for each unprotected employee. The company will pay 600,000 USD and must introduce a written safety plan, ensure sufficient fall protection for all workers, notify OSHA of jobs in advance, allow inspections without a warrant and have supervisors complete a 30-hour course. The authority allegedly made the findings set out here; this account is not based on a final judgment.
Missing fall protection can be penalised separately for each employee.
